Ashwatthama and Yeti
According to Mahabharata, Ashwatthama was a warrior, who
fought from the side of Kauravas in the battle of Kurukshetra.
And Yeti
is a mysterious creature, also known as
snow man migoi, big foot, skunk ape, orang and many more names. It is said he
lives in The Himalayas.
These two may seem completely different from each other, but
a part of Mahabharata, quite relates them. Which part I am talking about, well
here it is-
Ashwatthama was the son of Guru Dronacharya and also the
avatar of one of the eight Rudras of Lord Shiva. Ashwatthama was born with a
gem in his forehead, which protected him in battle of Kurukshetra and he was
left alive. But in the anger of taking revenge of death of his father Guru Drona,
friend Duryodhan and others, he tried to
kill the son of Abhimanyu by aiming a Brahmastra at Uttara’s womb (Uttara= wife
of Abhimanyu). Lord Krishna stopped the Brahmastra and saved the child; Bheem (one
of the 5 Pandav brothers) almost killed Ashwatthama by beating him and removed
the gem from his forehead with bare heads.
Lord Krishna stopped Bheem and then placed a curse on Ashwatthama that “He
will carry the burden of all people’s sins on his shoulder and will roam alone
like a ghost without getting any love and courtesy till the end of Kaliyuga; He
will have neither any hospitality nor any accommodation; He will be in total
isolation from mankind and society; His body will suffer from a host of incurable diseases forming sore and ulcer that
would never heal”.
In Mahabharata, even the death of Lord Krishna is mentioned
but Ashwatthama, according this epic is still alive. There are possibilities that the mysterious creature Yeti is
none other than the Ashwatthama, but it is quite impossible to prove this
prediction true as only Yeti can tell the truth.
